Information

The Equipment Specifications Team consists of research engineers and technicians. Our engineers conduct statistics-backed research projects to evaluate the effects that technology has on the sport of bowling. These research projects are what lead to identifying where current specifications need adjusting and when new specifications are needed to govern the sport.

Our technicians have the non-stop job of measuring bowling equipment to ensure it complies with current USBC equipment specifications. Year-in and year-out, we receive over 260 bowling ball models for approval testing and renew the active permits of more than 20 pin models. We also continue to approve and renew lane surface materials, oils, ball cleaners and just about any piece of equipment that could impact the scoring environment.

All the current USBC equipment specifications can be found within the USBC equipment specifications manual.
