World Senior Championships begin Monday

ARLINGTON, Texas - More than 200 bowlers from 33 countries will gather next week in Las Vegas for the inaugural World Tenpin Bowling Association World Senior Championships.
The World Senior Championships will take place at Red Rock with competition starting Monday with the singles event. It marks the first time bowlers age 50 and older will have a chance to win world medals in senior bowling competition.
"We are thrilled that so many federations have decided to send athletes to compete in the first World Senior Championships," WTBA President and CEO Kevin Dornberger said. "Never before have senior bowlers had the chance to win world championship medals for their country and that will change next week."
The women's division will feature 89 players from 27 countries, while the men's division will have 124 players from 33 countries. Medals will be awarded in singles, doubles, four-player team, all-events and Masters.
Each country could send a maximum of four men and four women to compete in the World Senior Championships. The United States roster consists of Del Ballard Jr., Hugh Miller, Ron Mohr, Ed Roberts, Anne Marie Duggan, Tish Johnson, Robin Romeo and Lucy Sandelin.
