ARLINGTON, Texas – With a new look to the division structure in 2026, the list of winners from this year’s Bowling.com Youth Open Championships features more than 60 young athletes earning national recognition based on impressive performances from over the summer in Blaine, Minnesota.
The 2026 Youth Open Championships, a non-qualifying tournament open to all United States Bowling Congress Youth members, was hosted at Lucky Strike Blaine from July 8-26.
The tournament expanded to five age-based divisions in 2026 (10-and-under, 12-and-under, 14-and-under, 16-and-under and 18-and-under) and welcomed 167 four-player teams and more than 800 bowlers to the Minneapolis area.
Athletes competed for titles in four events (team, doubles, singles, all-events) and looked to take home part of the tournament’s scholarship fund, which exceeded $80,000 in 2026. Each event featured a scratch and optional handicap division.
While several competitors took home multiple titles in Minnesota, only one recorded four victories at this year’s edition of the Youth Open Championships – Stevie Newton of Hanover, Pennsylvania.
Her performance in the 12-and-under division started with a win in Scratch Team alongside Kailynn Melvin, Nolan Randisi and Josh Worley as Scuba Divers, finishing with a 2,429 total. She added three scratch titles in the girls division, winning doubles with Kailynn (1,246), singles (636) and all-events (1,868).
Stevie finished her trip to Minnesota as the U12 titlist in the girls division at the Junior Gold Championships.
Gleason Garske of Spokane, Washington, followed a similar path to Stevie, winning titles at both the Youth Open Championships and Junior Gold Championships in 2026. He rolled a 300 game on the way to a 765 series to win Scratch Singles in the boys division for U12 to go along with his U12 title at Junior Gold.
Gleason was one of eight competitors to connect for a perfect game at the 2026 Youth Open Championships, and he was joined by two other young athletes in turning a perfect performance into a championship-winning moment.
Bailey Forrest of Yulee, Florida, rolled a 300 game during her doubles set with Ashlyn Henry of Fayetteville, North Carolina, to help the pair tie for the top scratch spot in the girls division for U16 (1,277). Max Oeken of Ashland, Ohio, went 12 for 12 in his first game of singles to secure the scratch title in the boys division for U18 with 773.
Mel Sim of Queens Village, New York, was the only bowler to post an 800 series at the 2026 Youth Open Championships – he had 812 in doubles. The performance helped Sim and Jake Lau of Albertson, New York, win Scratch Doubles in U18 with a 1,540 total.
