LAS VEGAS - Fresh off a runner-up finish at the Sam's Town Collegiate Shoot Out this weekend, the Wichita State University men found their way into the early lead at the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational across town at the South Point Bowling Center on Monday.

The Shockers finished the day's six traditional games with a 6,123 total, 172 pins ahead of Calumet (5,951). Arizona State-Haugen is third with 5,876.

On the women's side, Pikeville College-A, the women's champion at the Collegiate Shoot Out, pulled ahead of the pack with a 6,100 six-game total. Wichita State is 479 pins back with 5,621, while Fresno State is third with 5,522.

The tournament field includes 45 men's teams and 18 women's team, which all will return for three additional games Tuesday morning. The top 16 teams on the men's side and the top eight on the women's side then will advance to the match-play portion of the event. Teams will be seeded into single-elimination brackets for best two-out-of-three Baker matches.

Competition resumes Tuesday at 8 a.m. PST. Live streaming will continue for the duration of the event.
