Wichita, Kan., to host 2015 XBowling Intercollegiate Championships
December 30, 2013
ARLINGTON, Texas - The 2015 XBowling Intercollegiate Team and Singles Championships will be held April 13-18 at Northrock Lanes in Wichita, Kan.
An agreement between the United States Bowling Congress and Wichita USBC, Wichita Sports Commission and JOMA Bowling will bring the premier events of the college bowling season together for the fourth consecutive year.
"The city of Wichita is thrilled to welcome back the Intercollegiate Team and Singles Championships," said Wichita mayor Carl Brewer. "Wichita has a rich bowling tradition, and we can't wait to welcome the top collegiate bowlers and programs in the country."
The ITC returns to a familiar setting at Northrock Lanes. The 48-lane facility has held the ITC on four previous occasions (1999, 2000, 2007 and 2008).
"It's an honor to have the Intercollegiate Team and Singles Championships come back to Northrock Lanes," said Cathy DeSocio, president of JOMA Bowling. "Our staff will be ready to provide a championship atmosphere for bowlers and fans alike."
The ITC features the top 16 men's and top 16 women's teams competing to hoist the Kerm Helmer Cup, which is awarded to the tournament champion. The ISC brings together the top 24 men and top 16 women to compete for an individual national title.
Teams and individuals qualify for each event at one of four sectionals held throughout the country each year.
"Wichita is a great bowling city and a fitting host for the Intercollegiate Team and Singles Championships," said Chad Murphy, International Bowling Campus Managing Director of Youth Development. "Northrock has been the home to some of collegiate bowling's most memorable moments throughout the years, and we expect 2015 to be just as memorable."
The 2014 XBowling Intercollegiate Team and Singles Championships will be held April 14-18 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nev.
