LAS VEGAS – The members of Spare Me spared no change when it came to taking the team lead in the Emerald Division at the 2025 United States Bowling Congress Women’s Championships at the South Point Bowling Plaza.
The group dominated their team event with a total score of 2,184, with games of 671, 734 and 779. They currently lead their division by 161 pins.
The team consisted of Kim Mellick, out of Redmond, Washington, along with Jackie Johnson and Heidi Anderson of Bellevue, Washington. Finally, anchor Julie Sieger, out of Renton, Washington, helped the team’s cause.
Sieger, an accountant, accounted for a big series to lead the way in Las Vegas.
She led the team with an overall score of 704, only 19 pins shy of tying the highest series of her career (723). In Game 1, Sieger rolled a 179 game. She came out firing in Game 2 with an astonishing score of 290. She stayed consistent in Game 3 with an overall score of 235.
Anderson was next on her team, with a total score of 581. Mellick enjoyed success, adding 486 total pins, and Johnson shot 413 to help the team secure the top spot.
Sieger and her teammates were overjoyed when they heard the news of their team taking the lead.
“I am very excited for our team,” Sieger said. “I am also extremely honored that our team is finally putting it all together and doing well this year.”
The teammates have been bowling with each other for about 17 years now, and it’s all harmonizing.
Sieger says, “The friends, the support and the encouragement have gone a long way in helping us bowl our best tournament.”
Emerald Team consists of four-player groups with combined entering averages of 541-620.
Sieger’s big series in team also helped her take over third place in Ruby All-Events with a 1,781 total. She also had sets of 563 in doubles and 514 in singles at the Bowling Plaza. Amanda Wyrick of Liberty Hill, Texas, leads at the 2025 event with 1,836.
