Vanderbilt undefeated, leads after opening day at 2019 Prairie View A&M Invitational

ARLINGTON, Texas - Vanderbilt rolled to a perfect record on the way to the lead after the first day of competition at the 2019 Prairie View A&M Invitational at the International Training and Research Center.
The Commodores went 5-0 on Friday, finishing with a pinfall total of 5,080, a 203.2 average. They were followed by defending champion McKendree (5,022), Sam Houston State (4,955) and Arkansas State and Stephen F. Austin (4,861).
Friday's opening round of competition featured five Baker sets, each consisting of five games with total pinfall determining the winner of each match. McKendree, Arkansas State and Nebraska each posted 4-1 records Friday.
A team's overall record for the season will help determine the teams that qualify for the 2019 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship being held in Cleveland from April 11-13.
All 12 teams will return to the ITRC on Saturday for five traditional games, starting at 10:25 a.m. Eastern. Sunday will kick off with one additional game before the field is seeded into three best-of-seven match-play brackets. Total pinfall will determine seeding.
Sunday's bracket will have the top four teams placed in one bracket, all with a chance to win the tournament. Seeds No. 5 through No. 8 will be in a second bracket, and seeds No. 9 through No. 12 will compete in a third bracket.
