USBC Youth Open Parade of Champions: Joshua Gall
March 16, 2010
The 2010 USBC Youth Open will take place in Indianapolis on July 9-10, 15-20 and 22-24. Once again bowlers from across the country will be able to compete for scholarships and national titles against other youth bowlers in a non-qualifying setting.
Entries for the 2010 event are available on BOWL.com. You can click here to register online or to download an entry form.
The USBC Youth Open offers something for everyone, including singles, doubles, four-person teams and all-events formats. But before we move on to this year's championships, let's once again recognize and learn a little bit more about the 2009 champions.
Joshua D. Gall
Title: Singles, 130-159, scratch
Age: 16
Hometown: Antioch, Ill.
Favorite bowling center: Antioch Bowling Lanes, Antioch, Ill.
Favorite bowling ball: Brunswick C-System 3.5
If you could create a "dream team" for this year's tournament, who would be on it? It would be the same team that I bowled with last year, my brother, Justin Gall, and my friends, Ryan Reitmayer and TJ Strange.
What is your favorite USBC Youth Open moment? Rolling my first 600 series during singles and being able to do it at Nationals. I bowled a 633 series that day.
Who got you started in bowling and why? My dad is the one who got me bowling and I have been bowling since I was at least 6-7 years old. My dad taught me to bowl and helped me be the bowler that I am today. My dad has several awards like four 300 games and two 800 series, a 299 game and I hope some day I can be just like him and have these same type of awards. But there is one award that I have over him and that is "National" Champion"!
What is your favorite motivational quote? "I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it." - Thomas Jefferson.
Do you have any bowling superstitions? I do have a superstition which I think most bowlers have. My superstition is, just before I go up on the approach I wipe my slide foot with my hand to make sure there is nothing on the slide pad.
