The Kansas men and Wright State women began the 2012-13 college bowling season with victories in the Racer Kickoff Classic at Westgate Lanes in Lima, Ohio.
After leading qualifying and earning the top seed for the stepladder finals, Kansas defeated Morehead State, 426-406, in the two-game title match to win the men's title. Morehead State defeated Urbana in the semifinal, 427-383.
On the women's side, Webber International entered the stepladder as the top seed but lost in the title match to Wright State, 407-361. Wright State defeated Northwestern Ohio, 374-356, in the semifinal.
Brock Finch of Urbana had the high average in qualifying with 241.7 after shooting 1,207 for five games. Kyle Rodgers of Morehead State had a 235.2 average after firing 1,411 for six games.
Shayna Kanemoto of Wright State earned top individual honors for the women with a 217.5 average after totaling 1,305 for six games. Olivia King of Northwestern Ohio was second with 1,244 for six games.
