In the first major event of the season, the Robert Morris-Illinois men and Davenport women claimed titles at the 42nd annual Midwest Bowling Championships Collegiate Tournament at AMF Bowlero Lanes in Wauwatosa, Wis.

Davenport took a slim victory, finishing with 10,836 pins, while Lindenwood was second with 10,824. Midland was a close third with 10,800, while Robert Morris-Illinois and Webber International finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

It was an easy win for the Robert Morris-Illinois men as they finished with 12,330, besting Webber International's second-place total of 11,848. McKendree took the third spot with 11,732 with St. Ambrose and Midland rounding out the top five.

In the individual standings, Caitlin Hofmann of Robert Morris-Illinois led the women with a nine-game tally of 1,862 (206.89 average), while St. Ambrose' Becca Cziapinski was second with 1,833. Davenport's Andreya Teuber and Allison Neal tied ford third with 1,826.

Kyle King of Robert Morris-Illinois took the top honors in the men's individual standings with a nine-game total of 2,083 (231.44 average), while his teammate Marshall Kent finished second with 2,068. AJ Johnson of McKendree was third with 2,053.

In other USBC Collegiate action over the weekend:

- At the Blue Hen Open at Pleasant Hill Lanes in Wilmington, Del., North Carolina State earned the top seed for bracket play and went on to win the event with a 2-1 victory over Virginia Tech.
