USA Bowling Coaching to offer seminars

ARLINGTON, Texas - For youth bowling coaches, volunteers or parents of children involved in the sport, USA Bowling will provide coaching seminars designed to teach basic bowling coaching skills.
The USA Bowling Coaching program already has scheduled 52 seminars throughout the country this fall, and additional seminars will be added. The seminars are a continuation of the program started last year that drew more than 1,100 participants.
Seminar dates and locations are available on BOWL.com/usabowlingcoaching under the Locations tab, and registration also will be available through the website.
The seminars are free, are three hours in length and include on-lane and classroom instruction. The seminars are designed to teach volunteers the skills necessary to teach the fundamentals of bowling to youths. The curriculum is basic and non-intimidating, and is perfect for bowling novices such as parents/guardians, youth directors or activists who want to learn more about how to teach kids to bowl.
Every attendee is provided a USA Bowling Coaching manual created by USBC Coaching and an eight-week lesson plan guide.
"The seminars proved to be very popular last fall and we hope parents, association leaders and center managers continue to take advantage of this opportunity," International Bowling Campus Managing Director of Youth Development Chad Murphy said. "The USBC Coaching team and many of the top instructors in the nation are actively engaged in this program. Our vision is to grow the sport by teaching the game and to develop an outstanding volunteer coaching base."
Last December, the national instructors of the USA Bowling Coaching program reviewed the program and discussed changes to make the program better as it moves forward. National instructors taking part in the program include USBC Director of Coaching Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, Mark Baker, Susie Minshew , Bill Spigner, Rick Steelsmith , Parker Bohn III, Jeff Lizzi, Hank Boomershine, John Gaines, Bill Monce, Del Warren, Bob Maki, Jim O'Reilly and Cliff Barnes.
The seminars also provide the opportunity to gain USBC Coaching Level I certification. After participants attend class, pass the test and are approved through the Registered Volunteer Program (RVP), they will receive USBC Level I certification.
