UCF women, Webber men win Hoosier titles

INDIANAPOLIS -
The University of Central Florida women and Webber International men claimed titles Sunday at the 41st Backhaul Direct Hoosier Classic.

The UCF women successfully defended the title they won last year at the event, defeating Webber's women's team 3-1 in the best-of-five championship match at Western Bowl.

The Knights opened up with a pair of victories, 192-175 and 183-181, before dropping Game 3 192-162. UCF put the title away with a 182-161 win in Game 4.

In the semifinals, UCF took out Wichita State, 3-1, while Webber knocked off Pikeville 3-1.

On the men's side, Webber dominated match play, sweeping through the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship match with 3-0 victories in each round. The Warriors dominated Robert Morris-Illinois in the title match.

Webber knocked off McKendree in the semis and Morehead State in the quarterfinals, while Robert Morris defeated Fresno State to reach the title match.

The Backhaul Direct Hoosier Classic featured the largest field in college bowling history with 69 men's teams and 41 women's teams.
