Texas bowler rolls 300 at 2026 USBC Open Championships
May 07, 2026
RENO, Nev. – Eric Torres of El Paso, Texas, closed his team set Wednesday evening at the 2026 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships with the final 12 strikes to record a 300 game at the National Bowling Stadium.
After starting with games of 160 and 171, the 43-year-old right-hander got lined up in the final game and started to string the strikes together, finishing with a 631 series to help El Paso’s Solstice 2 to a 2,569 total in the Standard Division.
Torres’ first shot in the 10th frame left little doubt, but he admitted to feeling some nerves after seeing a crowd start to gather around the pair to watch his attempt for the 16th perfect game of the 2026 event.
Although the final two shots were left of target, both deliveries were able to get all 10 to fall to help Torres connect for 300 on one of bowling’s biggest stages.
Making his 15th appearance at the USBC Open Championships, Torres’ top game prior to Thursday’s performance at the tournament had been 290 – also rolled at the National Bowling Stadium during the 2011 event in singles competition.
