Team USA’s Elliott connects for 300 in debut at USBC Open Championships

LAS VEGAS – Crystal Elliott of Palm Bay, Florida, has had an impressive run on the lanes through the first half of 2024, and she added another big moment to start the second half of the year with a perfect performance Sunday at the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships.

The 23-year-old right-hander rolled 300 during her second game of singles at the South Point Bowling Plaza. She had started the set with 189 and closed with 221 for a 710 series.

Elliott had posted 707 in doubles and 625 in team to conclude her tournament debut with an all-events score of 2,042.

The perfect performance also helped Elliott etch her name in the tournament’s record book by becoming the 12th woman to bowl a 300 game at the USBC Open Championships.

Her 2024 campaign also started in Las Vegas at the USBC Team USA Trials and United States National Amateur Bowling Championships, where she emerged as the U.S. Amateur champion and earned her spot on Team USA for the first time after three years on Junior Team USA (2018, 2020-2021).

Elliott was named a National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) first-team All-American for the third time in her collegiate career as a student-athlete at Jacksonville State University, and she helped the Gamecocks win the NCAA Bowling Championship in the program’s first year.

Jacksonville State finished as the runner-up at the 2024 Intercollegiate Team Championships, and Elliott also was a semifinalist at the Intercollegiate Singles Championships.

With her collegiate career complete, she joined the Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tour and made the stepladder finals in her first event as a professional, placing fifth at the 2024 PWBA GoBowling! Twin Cities Open in May.

She’s the current front-runner to claim rookie-of-the-year honors for the season as the tour heads into its final stretch.

When the tour season is complete, Elliott will be wearing the red, white and blue for Team USA in a pair of upcoming events.

She was selected to compete at the PANAM Bowling Adult and Senior Men’s and Women’s Championships from Aug. 18-25 at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nevada, and she’ll represent Team USA in Lima, Peru, at the PANAM Champion of Champions from Oct. 5-10.

Watch the video below as Elliott talks about her first experience at the Open Championships, reaching her goals and bouncing back after a slow start in singles. She also discusses her strong performances throughout 2024.

The 2024 Open Championships got underway Feb. 23 and will run through July 29 at the South Point Bowling Plaza. The tournament is scheduled to feature more than 11,000 teams and 55,000 bowlers making their way to compete in Las Vegas.
