Richmond records 300 game at 2024 USBC Open Championships

LAS VEGAS – Anthony Richmond Jr. isn’t one to shy away from a big moment, and he felt right at home delivering the final strikes he needed to post the 30th perfect game at the 2024 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships on Tuesday in Las Vegas.

The left-hander, who celebrated his 29th birthday Wednesday, rolled his 300 in the middle of his doubles set at the South Point Bowling Plaza. He started the day with 203 and concluded with 208 to finish with a 711 series.

Richmond, who’s originally from Memphis, Tennessee, paired with Memphis’ Gary Faulkner Jr. to make their way into the top 30 of Regular Doubles at the 2024 event with a 1,417 total.

Faulkner, the 2015 Professional Bowlers Association World Championship winner, had games of 235, 225 and 246 for a 706 set.

Shawn Evans and Nicholas Fisher of Palm Bay, Florida, lead Regular Doubles at the Bowling Plaza with 1,531.

Richmond concluded his third appearance at the USBC Open Championships with a 730 series in singles, and he added 577 in team for a 2,018 all-events total.

The 2024 Open Championships got underway Feb. 23 and will run through July 29 at the South Point Bowling Plaza. The tournament is scheduled to feature more than 11,000 teams and 55,000 bowlers making their way to compete in Las Vegas.
