PWBA Classic Series - Nashville set to kick off this week
May 27, 2024
SMYRNA, Tenn. – The Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tour will be in the Greater Nashville area for the fourth stop of the 2024 season, as Smyrna Bowling Center in Smyrna, Tennessee, will play host to three events in a span of seven days for the PWBA Classic Series – Nashville from May 28-June 3.
Smyrna Bowling Center last hosted the PWBA in 2021 with the PWBA Greater Nashville Open, won by England’s Verity Crawley for her first career PWBA title, and Smyrna is no stranger to hosting national bowling events like the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles and Team sectionals.
Last year’s Classic Series in Grand Rapids, Michigan, saw Crawley claim her second career PWBA title, Stephanie Zavala of Long Beach, California, earn her fifth career title, and Jordan Richard of Tipton, Michigan, win her second title of the 2023 PWBA Tour season.
The week in Smyrna kicks off Tuesday as nearly 100 competitors will bowl the official practice session from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. Eastern, with Bowl with the Pros later at 7 p.m., giving local bowlers the opportunity to bowl alongside their favorite PWBA players in a fun and exciting environment.
Competition begins Wednesday with the first of two rounds of qualifying for the PWBA Greater Nashville Classic. Competitors will bowl two six-game blocks, starting at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern, with the top 12 making the cut for match play.
The top 12 will return on Thursday and bowl two six-game rounds of round-robin match play starting at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Eastern. After the second round of match play is completed, the top five players will advance to the stepladder finals.
The stepladder finals will start at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on Thursday and determine which player wins the 2024 PWBA Greater Nashville Classic. The finals will be broadcast live only on BowlTV.
The same format will be followed for the PWBA BowlTV Classic, which begins with qualifying on Friday at 11 a.m. Eastern and concludes with the stepladder finals on BowlTV Sunday starting at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.
The final tournament of the week will be the PWBA Music City Classic, the field of which will be made up of the top 24 competitors based on the combined qualifying totals (24 games) from the Greater Nashville Classic and BowlTV Classic.
The 24 advancers will bowl three eight-game rounds of round-robin match play to determine the top five for the stepladder finals (total pins from the 24 games of qualifying will not carry over to this event).
The stepladder finals will start at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on Monday and determine which player wins the 2024 PWBA Music City Classic. The finals will be broadcast live on BowlTV.
