Missouri bowler connects for 300 at 2024 USBC Open Championships

LAS VEGAS – Ryan Burks of St. Joseph, Missouri, rolled the 25th perfect game of the 2024 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships to start his doubles set Saturday at the South Point Bowling Plaza.

The 31-year-old right-hander added games of 201 and 178 to finish doubles with a 679 series, and he paired with John Riffle of Portage, Indiana, to get to a combined total of 1,355 in Regular Doubles. Riffle added 676.

Burks flirted with perfection late into his third game of team competition Friday, before seeing his streak of strikes end in the ninth frame on the way to a 262 game and 658 series.

The former collegiate bowler at Calumet College of St. Joseph added 686 in singles for a 2,023 all-events total. It marked his second nine-game score north of 2,000 (2,060 in 2018) through his 10 appearances at the USBC Open Championships.

Burks advanced to the double-elimination bracket at the 2019 USBC Masters in Las Vegas, finishing tied for 33rd place, and he’s now operating a pro shop in St. Joseph.
