Michigan bowler is perfect at Youth Open

ARLINGTON, Texas - Willie Rushing Jr. of Southfield, Mich., bowled the third perfect game of the 2013 United States Bowling Congress Youth Open Championships being held at Sterling Lanes in Sterling, Mich.

Rushing, 19, shot his 300 game on July 23. He began team competition with a 215 game before stringing together 12 consecutive strikes for the perfect game. He finished with a 147 game for a 662 series.

This past season, Rushing competed in the CBC Elite Youth Travel league and the Saturday morning Elite league at Skore Lanes in Taylor, Mich.

At the Youth Open, Rushing posted a 701 series in singles with games of 226, 212 and 263. He had a 565 doubles series for a 1,927 All-Events total, which currently has him in 39th place in the U20 Division.

The 2013 USBC Youth Open Championships runs through July 28.

Rushing's 300 game is just the fifth perfect game in USBC Youth Open Championships history, and each was bowled in team competition. Dan Reinke of New Ulm, Minn., rolled the first 300 game at the 2011 USBC Youth Open Championships in Las Vegas. Adam Morse of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Josh Mullen of Bellingham, Wash., also rolled 300 games in this year's tournament.
