Match play underway at 2015 ITC

WICHITA, Kan. - Four men's and four women's teams remain undefeated at the 2015 XBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships after two rounds of double-elimination match play at Northrock Lanes on Thursday.

On the men's side, top-seeded Midland paced the way, sweeping Lindenwood-Belleville, 4-0, before defeating Calumet, 4-2. The Warriors are joined in the winners' bracket by Wichita State, Robert Morris-Illinois and Wisconsin-Whitewater.

For the women, defending champion Robert Morris-Illinois is one step closer to making it back to the finals after surviving close matches against Wisconsin-Whitewater and top-seeded Wichita State, taking the deciding game in each, 4-3. Also advancing in the winners' bracket is Pikeville, St. Francis-Illinois and North Carolina A&T.

The Intercollegiate Team Championships is the pinnacle of the collegiate bowling season, bringing together the top 16 men's and top 16 women's teams together to compete for the Kerm Helmer Cup.

Teams qualified for the ITC by finishing in the top four in one of the four sectionals held throughout the country in March.

Thursday's competition began with 24 Baker games to determine the seeding for the double-elimination match play bracket.

Match play resumes Friday at Northrock Lanes starting 9:15 a.m. Eastern, with BOWL.com's BowlTV providing live coverage of the event until two men's and two women's teams are left to compete for the national championship.

The finals will be taped for broadcast Saturday and air on the CBS Sports Network in May. The women's final will be aired May 18 at 7 p.m. ET, while the men's title match will be shown May 25 at 7 p.m. ET.
