Kent is July BWAA Bowler of Month

ARLINGTON, Texas - Marshall Kent, of Yakima, Washington, has been named the July 2012 Kegel Bowler of the Month by the Bowling Writers Association of America.
Kent won medals at the 12th World Youth Bowling Championships in Thailand. His two gold medals came in Boy's Team (with Team USA teammates Andrew Koff, Zack Hattori, and Chris Via), Boy's Singles, two silver medals in Boy's Doubles (with Team USA teammate Andrew Koff) and Boy's All-Events, and a bronze medal in the Boy's Masters divisons.
Team USA defeated Team Singapore for the gold medal 889-807. Kent then downed Team Japan's Shusaku Asato for the Boy's Singles gold, 226-197. The silver medals came in a 480-402 loss to Team South Korea's Kim Yeon-Sang and Hwang Dong-Jun and placing only 9 pins behind gold medalist Sam Cooley of Team Australia in Boy's All-Events. His bronze medal came in a Boy's Masters 242-202 semifinal loss to the eventual gold medalist Daniel Fransson of Team Sweden.
Kent, a junior at Robert Morris-Illinois, first won Bowler of the Month honors in July 2010 after winning two premier youth scholarship events in the United States, the USBC Junior Gold Championships and the North Pointe Insurance High School Open Championships.
Others receiving votes were Robyn Renslow, the U20 Girls gold medalist and AJ Johnson, the U20 Boys gold medalist at the North Pointe Junior Gold Championships presented by Brunswick; and Osku Palermaa, winner of the 34th European Bowling Tour (EBT) Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona.
