Junior Team USA stars shine at TofA

The Junior Team USA stars continued to shine Wednesday at the 50th Lee Evans Tournament of the Americas in Tamarac, Fla., claiming a pair of doubles gold medals in the Junior A division (ages 16-19).
Holly Harris (pictured) and Elise Bolton rolled to the girls title with a six-game total of 2,588 at Sawgrass Lanes. Harris fired a blistering 1,340, while Bolton added 1,248 as the pair topped the field by 370 pins.
The boys tandem of Tyler Cruz and AJ Chapman took a 75-pin victory with a total of 2,459. Cruz finished with 1,305, while Chapman added 1,154.
Junior Team USA member Kamron Doyle paired with Wesley Low to win the boys gold medal in the Junior B division (ages 12-15) with 2,415. Low paced the pair with 1,211, while Doyle added 1,204. The U.S. Junior B girls pair of Ashley Dunn and Kaitlyn Eder took silver, finishing 13 pins behind Colombia.
In the Adult division, both United States pairings failed to medal as AJ Johnson and Jarret Mizo finished fifth in the men's division, while Danielle McEwan and Addileen Pointer were fourth among the women. Colombia swept the gold medals.
The United States took the gold medal in three of the four senior divisions with Lucy Sandelin and Carol Teel claiming the Super Senior women's title and Ed Roberts and Jerry Teel earning the gold in the Super Senior men's division. In the Senior division, Brian Brazeau and Steve Kiss earned the top spot on the podium, while Paula Vidad and Pam Sprow took the silver.
Competition continues Thursday with mixed doubles.
The Lee Evans Tournament of the Americas is the oldest annual international tournament in the American Zone. The invitational competition for countries of PABCON (Pan American Bowling Confederation - the American Zone of World Tenpin Bowling Association) has five divisions for men and women.
