ARLINGTON, Texas – The Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) and United States Bowling Congress (USBC) have agreed to a long-term research, testing and data collaboration partnership. Key elements of the agreement involve the exchange of technology in testing, training and evaluation techniques of bowling athletes.
“Hong Kong Sports Institute and USBC are dedicated to the development of bowling as the sport continues to rapidly grow on the international level,” USBC Managing Director of National Governing Body, Neil Stremmel said. “HKSI and USBC each have unique areas of expertise and collaboration will benefit both of our national teams and the sport.”
An initial focus of the partnership will be sharing best practices for the new HKSI Tenpin Bowling Center, which is nearing completion and will be a top-level training facility much like the International Training and Research Center in Arlington, Texas, where Team USA trains.
“The new HKSI Tenpin Bowling Centre will be a state-of-the-art technical training center for elite athletes,” Vivien Lau Chiang-chu, Chair of the Hong Kong Tenpin Bowling Congress said. “The Hong Kong Tenpin Bowling Congress has been delighted to facilitate this partnership between the HKSI and the USBC, and we foresee a continuous improvement in the standard of our tenpin bowling athletes.”
Athletes from Team Hong Kong recently visited the ITRC for training and say they are excited to see the partnership that will develop more opportunities for advancement of training techniques.
“The training was rewarding and we are all impressed by the world-class facilities and technologies at the ITRC,” Team Hong Kong member Wu Siu-hong said.
