Greene dominates qualifying at PWBA Lincoln Open

LINCOLN, Neb. - Amanda Greene of Romney, West Virginia, put together the highest 12-game qualifying block on the Professional Women's Bowling Association Tour this season Friday to lead the PWBA Lincoln Open.
Greene totaled 2,863 (238.58 average) for 12 games at Sun Valley Lanes as she dominated the field of 80 of the best female bowlers in the world.
The top 16 players in the qualifying standings Friday advanced to Saturday's round-robin match play, which begins at 8:30 a.m. Central. The event concludes with the stepladder finals at 6:30 p.m. Central on Saturday. All rounds are being broadcast live on Xtra Frame.
Greene, who was a three-time first-team collegiate All-American at Lindenwood, led the field by more than 180 pins after qualifying.
"The lanes matched up to my game very well," Greene said. "I could move left and open up the lane, which is my A game, which is why I bowled really well today. The lanes will probably be a little different tomorrow but hopefully not too much. I just have to keep playing my game and make my spares to keep my momentum going."
Kelly Kulick of Union, New Jersey, qualified second with 2,682, while Erin McCarthy of nearby Omaha, Nebraska, was third with 2,680. Left-hander Shannon Pluhowsky of Dayton, Ohio, was fourth with 2,651, and Shannon O'Keefe of O'Fallon, Illinois, was fifth with 2,641.
Samantha Schaden of Baltimore struck out in the final frame to sneak in as the last player to make the cut to match play with 2,531 (210.92 average).
The remaining players will bowl 16 games of match play Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Central. Match play will conclude with a position round to finalize the top four for the stepladder finals.
