Epps rolls first career 300 at USBC Open Championships

LAS VEGAS – Deborah Epps of Temple Hills, Maryland, had been close to perfection a time or two in her bowling career but still was in search of her first 300 as she made her way to Las Vegas for the 2024 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships.

She’ll return home with a story to tell and an accomplishment checked off her list as she was able to connect for her first perfect game Saturday during her singles event at the South Point Bowling Plaza to cap off a successful debut at the tournament.

The 25-year-old right-hander started singles with 204 before rolling 300 in Game 2, and she finished with 172 for a 676 series.

She added 647 in doubles and 616 in team for an all-events total of 1,939.

Epps, a past collegiate bowler at Fairleigh Dickinson University from 2017-2021, has been ramping up her competitive schedule the past few seasons and competed in her first Professional Women’s Bowling Association Regional event in January at the PWBA Myrtle Beach Regional.

Watch the video below to learn what it means to Epps to roll her first 300, how she prepares for tournament competition, coming back to bowling after her collegiate career and future goals on the lanes.

Epps became the 14th woman to roll a 300 game at the USBC Open Championships and third to achieve the feat at the 2024 event. Crystal Elliott of Palm Bay, Florida, and Tina Williams of Pflugerville, Texas, also connected for perfect games at the South Point Bowling Plaza during July.

The 2024 Open Championships got underway Feb. 23 and will run through July 29 at the South Point Bowling Plaza. The tournament is scheduled to feature more than 11,000 teams and 55,000 bowlers making their way to compete in Las Vegas.
