England’s Teece records 300 at 2024 USBC Open Championships

LAS VEGAS – Richie Teece closed his trip to Las Vegas with a strike-filled performance Thursday at the 2024 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships, which included a perfect game in singles during an exciting showing at the South Point Bowling Plaza.
Teece, of Aldershot, Hampshire, England, hopes to continue striking over the weekend as he heads to Houston to pair up with Liz Kuhlkin at the Professional Bowlers Association/Professional Women’s Bowling Association Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles event.
The 34-year-old right-hander started his day at South Point by watching his doubles partner – Nick Pahr of Muskegon, Michigan – make his own run at 300. Pahr had 10 strikes to start the block before leaving a 2-8 on his 11th delivery for 288.
The pair made their run at the top spot in Regular Doubles before ultimately settling into eighth place with 1,463. Pahr finished the set with 242 and 237 for 767, while Teece was consistent with games of 236, 225 and 235 for 696.
Shawn Evans and Nicholas Fisher of Palm Bay, Florida, lead Regular Doubles at the 2024 USBC Open Championships with 1,531.
As his pair transitioned to singles, Teece posted eight strikes during Game 1 for 240 to set up his run at perfection in Game 2. His 300 was the 36th at the 2024 Open Championships.
Teece, the 2017 PBA Shark Championship winner, started Game 3 with back-to-back spares, converting the 10 pin in both frames. He followed with three strikes, but another 10 pin was left standing in the sixth frame to end his run at the lead in Regular Singles (Brad Miller of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, leads with 815).
Teece finished singles with 236 for a 776 series, which placed him in a tie for 16th place in Regular Singles. He added 606 in team for an all-events total of 2,078.

The 2024 Open Championships got underway Feb. 23 and will run through July 29 at the South Point Bowling Plaza. The tournament is scheduled to feature more than 11,000 teams and 55,000 bowlers making their way to compete in Las Vegas.
