July 17, 2024
LAS VEGAS – Austyn Ducharme of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, may have been making his debut this week at the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships, but he’s certainly no stranger to throwing big shots and competing on some of the sport’s biggest stages.
The 25-year-old right-hander showed that poise as he connected for a 300 game during his doubles set at the 2024 event in Las Vegas, becoming the 34th bowler to achieve the feat this year at the South Point Bowling Plaza.
Ducharme started doubles with 215 before rolling 12 strikes in Game 2, and he closed the set with 214 for a 729 series. He paired with Jamey Kragh of Minot, North Dakota (610 series), to finish with a combined total of 1,339 in Regular Doubles.
Shawn Evans and Nicholas Fisher of Palm Bay, Florida, lead Regular Doubles at the 2024 event with a 1,531 total.
The 300 game now earns Ducharme fame at the USBC Open Championships moving forward at the event, but he stepped into the national spotlight in 2023 while representing Canada at the International Bowling Federation World Championships in Kuwait.
He was able to help Canada win the coveted team goal medal in his debut at the World Championships, while also taking home gold in all-events competition.
