Crawley inducted into UK Tenpin Hall of Fame

Professional Women’s Bowling Association star Verity Crawley of England, one of the PWBA’s most outstanding performers since joining the tour in 2017, was inducted into the UK Tenpin Hall of Fame in January.

Crawley, 29, owns two PWBA national tour titles and seven runner-up finishes since becoming a member of the organization following a stellar collegiate career at Webber International University. She has also been among the top 10 in the season-ending points standings multiple times, including a high finish of third in the 2021 season.

“I am overwhelmed with gratitude to have the honour of being inducted into the UK Tenpin Hall of Fame,” said Crawley, following the announcement. “Reflecting on this journey, I can’t help but marvel at the 5-year-old version of myself who first fell in love with the sport and always wanted to be better.”

Nominations were made by 10 members of the UK Tenpin Hall of Fame committee and a ballot was held to find the final Male, Female and distinguished name to be inducted in 2024. Crawley was inducted alongside fellow athlete Lol Ellis, as well as Distinguished Service recipient Graham Waller.

The inductees were chosen for their achievements in World, European and Domestic tournaments (including PWBA events) since the start of UK bowling in 1961, and for additional honors like Bowler of the Year awards and induction into the World Bowling Writers Hall of Fame.

In addition to her PWBA accolades, Crawley also has numerous international accomplishments from her
European bowling career. Recently, she won the 2023 European Champions Cup and singles and doubles gold at the 2023 European Championship of Champions, during which she fired a perfect game.

Also, she won gold and bronze at the 2012 European Youth Championships as well as the 2011 U18 London International title and 2011 NAYBC Nationals Masters champion. She also rolled the second-ever 300 game at the 2012 European Youth Championships.

“This accomplishment is not just a personal triumph but a testament to the collaborative effort of numerous individuals who have been a part of my growth in the sport,” said Crawley. “To all those who have played a role in shaping my bowling career, I am so thankful.”

Crawley plans to continue to add to her resumé when the 2024 PWBA national tour season kicks off May 2 at Cedarvale Lanes in Eagan, Minnesota, where she recorded one of her runner-up finishes in 2019.
