Five USBC Youth bowlers had great seats to watch Mike Scroggins win his eighth career title at the Professional Bowlers Association's Etonic Don Johnson Eliminator finals on March 7 in Columbus, Ohio.
The USBC Youth were selected to participate in the PBA/United States Bowling Congress Insiders' Tour. The participants had the opportunity to meet their favorite players on the PBA Tour, attend match-play eliminations and get a behind-the-scenes tour of the PBA event.
"I don't think they had a clue as to what they would see going into this," said Cindy Leach, the volunteer who helped lead the youth group. "They were really excited and the pros were so willing to sign autographs. The kids had a lot of fun."
The USBC Youth members selected to the Insiders' Tour were: Meaghan McCall (age 16), Miranda Shapter (15), James McComas (13), Parker VanScyoc (10), and Michael Mossbarger (10).
After watching Sunday's ESPN television finals, the group had their picture taken with Scroggins.
The Insiders' Tour is a joint program of the PBA and USBC. It allows young bowlers to see the world of professional bowling from a unique perspective and gives them an opportunity to meet their heroes.
