Colorado bowler rolls 300 at 2024 USBC Open Championships

LAS VEGAS – Ken Rowland III of Aurora, Colorado, may have felt the nerves in the moment, but he delivered three big shots in his final frame to connect for a 300 game in singles competition at the 2024 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships.
The 20-year-old two-hander switched back to the bowling ball he started Saturday’s doubles set with in his final frame of doubles and fired 12 strikes in his first game of singles at the South Point Bowling Plaza.
After the excitement of the perfect performance, Rowland finished his third appearance at the USBC Open Championships with games of 159 and 189 for a 648 series.
Rowland has competed collegiately the last two seasons at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas, and he was able to participate alongside his parents during his trip this year to Las Vegas.
His first delivery in the 10th frame briefly featured the 7 and 10 standing, but both quickly fell. Rowland’s final two shots left little doubt as they sent all 10 pins back to the pit.

Rowland added 559 in doubles and 527 in team for a 1,734 all-events total this week at the Bowling Plaza.
The 2024 Open Championships got underway Feb. 23 and will run through July 29 at the South Point Bowling Plaza. The tournament is scheduled to feature more than 11,000 teams and 55,000 bowlers making their way to compete in Las Vegas.
