Lindenwood men, Webber women win at ISYL Leatherneck Classic
For the third consecutive year, the Lindenwood men's team claimed the Illinois State Youth Leaders Leatherneck Classic title while Webber International took the women's division at the tournament held Dec. 4-5 at Miller Time Bowling in Davenport, Iowa and Milan Lanes in Milan, Ill.
Only 279 pins separated the top five men's teams during qualifying. William Penn led the way with a 9,672 total while Robert Morris-Illinois was second at 9,616 and Webber International took third at 9,548. Lindenwood (9,409) and Midland (9,393) rounded out the top five. Lindenwood rolled in bracket play, taking down William Penn, 2-1, in the second round and topping Wichita State, 2-1, in the title match.
Men's individual honors went to William Penn's Sean Rangel, who averaged 250.6 over six games (1,504). Webber's Kristis Sergejevas (1,414) edged Wright State's Jay Foote by one pin for second, Cameron Weier (1,366) was fourth and Wisconsin-Whitewater's Mike Dolan (1,365) was fifth.
In the women's competition, Wichita State was the top qualifier with a 9,177 pinfall total followed by McKendree (8,867), Lindenwood (8,480), Webber International (8,419) and Robert Morris-Illinois (8,402). In bracket play, Webber was able to slip past Robert Morris in the opening round before sweeping Wichita State to reach the finals. Webber took the title with a 2-0 victory over McKendree.
Brandi Branka was the top women's individual with a 1,278 total. Wichita State's Alexis Ijams (1,265) and Jazreel Tan (1,253) were second and third, respectively, followed by Lindenwood's Amanda Greene (1,242) and Suzana Signaigo (1,217) of Wichita State.

RIT, Briarcliffe take Shippensburg Classic titles
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - The Rochester Institute of Technology men's team outdistanced the field by more than 300 pins while Briarcliffe took the women's division at the Shippensburg Classic held Dec. 3-4 at ABC Lanes West.
RIT had a 8,901 total in winning the title while Robert Morris took second at 8,569 and Briarcliffe (8,550) was third in the 23-team men's field. The Briarcliffe women posted a 7,961 pinfall total to easily top Mohawk Valley Community College (7,023) in the five-team field.
Michael Boches of Temple University was the top individual with a 1,321 pinfall total over six games for a 220.1 average. Tara Ernst was the top women's individual at 1,177.

VUU Jeanette Lee Invitational
MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - Central Missouri had a perfect run at the Virginia Union University Jeanette Lee Invitational held December 2-4 at Bowl America Lanes, going 12-0 and topping Sacred Heart in the title match to earn its second title of the season.
Central Missouri led qualifying with a 9,684 total followed by Fairleigh Dickinson (9,667), Sacred Heart (9,489) and Adelphi (8,796). Fairleigh Dickinson topped Adelphi for third place in the 12-team field.
Individually, Central Missouri claimed the top two spots as MVP Natalie Jimenez (1,131) averaged 226.20 and Kara Richard (1,115) posted a 223 average. Fairleigh Dickinson's Danielle McEwan (1,070) was third.

ALTOONA, Pa. - New Jersey City took a 4-2 victory over St. Francis, Pa., in the title match to capture the Red Flash Invitational held Dec. 2-4 at Holiday Bowl.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - Tournament host Sam Houston State swept top qualifier Arkansas State, 4-0, to capture the inaugural Track Kat Klash held Dec. 2-4 at Huntsville Lanes.
The Bearkats took the first two games in the best-of-seven Baker final before tournament MVP Michelle Secours and anchor Dayna Galganski each made big shots in both the third game and the clinching game as Sam Houston won by scores of 223-174, 194-127, 215-206, and 243-237.
Vanderbilt took third place in the tournament featuring 14 NCAA women's teams with a 4-2 victory over Nebraska, while Long Island University beat Stephen F. Austin for fifth place.
Secours took top individual honors with a 1,224 pinfall total over five games, a 244.8 average. Nebraska's Kayla Johnson (1,176) was second, followed by Brittni Hamilton (1,111) of Vanderbilt, Arkansas State's Amanda Labossierre (1,098), Sam Houston State's Neishka Cardona (1,091) and Nicole Parkhurst (1,090) of Stephen F. Austin.
