Vincennes, Robert Morris earn Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Classic titles
The Vincennes University men's team and Robert Morris University-Illinois women's team claimed the titles at the Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Classic held at Playdrome Rose Bowl in Allentown, Pa., on Dec. 27-28.
In the 40-team field for the men in the Tier I event, Vincennes had a 9,542 pinfall total to run away from the field. Saginaw Valley State was second at 9,123 followed by Morehead State (9,099), Rochester Institute (9,062) and Robert Morris-PA (9,058).
In the men's individual competition, Newman University's Jacob Hollis averaged just more than 240 over five games to take the title. He had the top game with a 287 and the top series at 720. Steven Zimmer of Morehead State was second with Vincennes teammates Adam Resop and James Fielder taking third and fourth, respectively.
In the 13-team women's division, Robert Morris-Illinois took the title with a total pinfall of 8,604 to edge Newman University (8,434). Purdue was third with Davenport taking fourth and Notre Dame College finishing fifth.
Purdue's Erin Czuprynski had a 245 game and the high series at 645 to claim the women's individual title. She averaged 207 to beat out Samantha Kelly of Robert Morris-Illinois. Jenna Law of Erie Community College was third with Newman's Georgia Wiggins taking fourth.
