Pikeville men, Wichita State women win Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational

HENDERSON, Nev. -
The Pikeville men defeated Urbana, 2-1, while the Wichita State women took down Florida State, 2-0, to win titles at the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational at Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center.

Pikeville's Orange team won the opening game 212-183 before falling 213-203. They rebounded to take the deciding game 198-162. In the semifinals, Pikeville Orange defeated Kansas, while Urbana took down Pikeville Black.

In the women's championship, Wichita State rolled to the victory on games of 186-153 and 199-167. Wichita State defeated West Texas A&M, while Florida State beat Webber International in the semifinals.

The Wichita State men's team led the nine-game qualifying with 9,644 but lost in the first round of match play to be eliminated. The Wichita State women also earned the top spot in qualifying with 8,820.

Marcus Berndt took the men's individual honors with a 2,054 pinfall total for nine games, edging Fresno State's Greg Geerring by seven pins. Eric Gulbrandson of Wichita State was third followed by Micah Kamiyama of Fresno State and Urbana's Brice Ream.

Kristie Petravich of Central Florida totaled 1,932 pins to edge Wichita State's Tanny Roumimper (1,911) for the women's individual title. Katie Thornton of Webber International was third with Pikeville's Brandy Hensley taking fourth and Catie Mullen of Central Florida finishing fifth.

Webber men, Wichita State women win Collegiate Shoot-Out

LAS VEGAS -
The Webber International men edged Wichita State to claim the top spot, while the Wichita State women easily won the women's division at the Collegiate Shoot-Out at Sam's Town Bowling Center.

Webber International finished with 11,801 and beat Wichita State by just six pins. UC-Davis took third, while Pikeville finished fourth.

In the individual standings, Webber's Javier Diaz took top honors with a six-game total of 1,393. Zach Travino of West Texas A&M finished second with 1,350, while TJ Smith of Weber State was third with 1,343.

The Wichita State women finished with a total of 11,029, easily topping Pikeville's 10,524. Central Florida finished third, while Webber International was fourth.

Webber's Katie Thornton was the high individual with 1,266 for six games, while Midland's Kristen Ruzicka was second with 1,240. Kristie Petravich of Central Florida was third with 1,213.
