The 2025-2026 United States Bowling Congress Collegiate season continued this past weekend with 11 events across the country, including the first two American Heartland Bowling Association (AHBA) events of the year in Canton, Michigan.
Twenty men’s varsity teams and 17 women’s varsity teams arrived in Canton ready to bowl six individual games to first decide the winner of AHBA 1.
The Cleary men began the event striking early and often with a 1,215 team game, eventually earning the win by 21 pins over second-place Lawrence Tech. On the women’s side, Lawrence Tech beat out Olivet by 40 pins to clinch the win.
Andrew Clark of Cleary led all men in the field with a six-game total of 1,347 and was joined in the top five by teammate Jacob Chouinard, who had 1,306 for fourth place. Second and third belonged to Lawrence Tech teammates Benjamin Augustitus (1,322) and Ayden Davis (1,312), with Olivet’s Ryen Grigg (1,305) closing out the top five.
Grace Polega of Cleary led the women’s field with 1,196 while Olivet’s Hollie Wendel was second with 1,181. Davenport’s Kadence Bottrall (1,170), Lawrence Tech’s Brooke Kochel (1,157) and Olivet’s Adrianna Good (1,154) occupied the next three spots.
The following day, AHBA 2 was contested with three individual games and 15 Baker games determining the winner.
Lawrence Tech swept both sides of the field as the men won by nearly 200 pins. The women narrowly won by 19 pins to close out the weekend. Rochester’s Nehemiah Bachmann rolled a 300 game to close out the individual portion.
In other collegiate action:
- The first two Mid-South Conference (MSC) events were contested in Smyrna, Tennessee, with the MSC Greater Nashville Open and MSC Brandon Burris Memorial. The Cumberland men and Pikeville women won the Greater Nashville Open, while Savannah College Art of Design-Savannah swept the Brandon Burris Memorial on both sides. Campbellsville’s Ayden Sprowles and University of the Cumberlands’ Owen McClure each shot 300 during the Brandon Burris Memorial.
- At the Monmouth Hawk Challenge and Monmouth Shadow Hawk Challenge in Aberdeen, New Jersey, the William Paterson men and Monmouth women won the Hawk Challenge before the Stevens Tech men and Monmouth women took home the Shadow Hawk Challenge title.
- At the Destination Orlando event in Orlando, Florida, Jacksonville State defeated Wichita State in five games during the championship match.
- At the second Great Lakes Bowling Conference (GLBC) event in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Marian-Wisconsin men and women swept the event.
- At the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge in Lawrence, Kansas, the Hastings men and Ottawa-Kansas women won their respective match-play brackets.
- At the Tony Reyes Memorial Classic I and II in San Jose, California, the California State-Fresno men swept the weekend.
Next weekend will see 10 events contested, including the Bowlero Southern Collegiate Classic, a Tier I event.
