The Calumet men and St. Ambrose women collected wins last weekend at the 47th Annual Midwest Collegiate Tournament, the first Tier 1 event of the 2017-2018 United States Bowling Congress Collegiate season.
A total of 40 men's varsity teams and 32 women's varsity teams competed at AMF Bowlero in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. The format included six traditional games and 16 Baker games, with total pinfall determining the champions.
Calumet was in third place after Saturday's six traditional games and rallied during Baker competition, averaging 226 on Sunday to take home the victory with a 10,050 total. Notre Dame-Ohio finished second with 9,988, and Midland took third with 9,863.
Calumet now has claimed the men's title at AMF Bowlero in two of the last three seasons.
The men's individual standings had a tie for the top spot as Saint Xavier's Ryan Koesema and Toledo's Ben Thomas each rolled a six-game score of 1,414, a 235.66 average. Wisconsin-Whitewater's Aaron Turner was third with 1,384, while St. Ambrose's Brent Boho (1,381) and St. Francis-Illinois' Michael Kicmal (1,376) also earned their way onto the all-tournament team.
St. Ambrose posted the highest Baker total in the women's division to catapult from third to first, finishing with a 9,102 total. Lindenwood recorded a runner-up finish with 9,005, and Notre Dame-Ohio took third with 8,824.
St. Ambrose has started the 2017-2018 season with back-to-back victories. The Fighting Bees also finished at the top of the standings at the Boilermaker Classic.
Natalie Koprowitz of St. Ambrose led the women's individual standings with a 1,300 total, a 216.66 average. Notre Dame-Ohio's Megan Freed (1,279) and Alexandria Dick (1,270) finished in second and third, respectively, while St. Ambrose's Kayla Crawford (1,267) and Lindenwood's Shelly Goodwin (1,266) rounded out the top five.

-At the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference No. 1 in Adrian, Michigan, the Concordia women edged out the win in the final Baker set, while the Lawrence Tech men rolled to victory.
