The Pikeville women and Morehead State men cruised to big wins last weekend at the Striking Knights Classic in Louisville, Kentucky.

The event was held at Kingpin Lanes and featured nine women's and 11 men's varsity teams. The format consisted of six traditional games and 16 Baker games, with total pinfall determining the winner in each division.

The Pikeville women put together a wire-to-wire victory, winning by more than 750 pins with a 8,865 pinfall total. Morehead State was second with 8,107, and Calumet finished third with 7,920.

Pikeville had three players in the top five of the individual standings, including tournament leader Jenna Coldiron, who averaged more than 218 on her way to a 1,313 total. Pikeville's Karlee Evans was the only other player to average more than 200, finishing with a 1,221 score, while Morehead State's Taylar Hayden (1,100), Pikeville's Samantha Holbrook (1,092) and Calumet's Lindsey Norton (1,087) earned top-five finishes.

The top of the men's standings was close through Saturday's six-game block, but Morehead State shined in Baker competition, averaging more than 206 on its way to a 9,006 total. Louisville finished second with 8,676, and Union took third with 8,518.

Union's Jerry Whobrey claimed his second individual win of the season, posting a 1,337 total to pace the men's field. Louisville's Kiefer Hillerich took second with 1,314, and Bellarmine's Alex Blair (1,292), Purdue's Dustin Zehner (1,279) and Northern Kentucky's Corey Wilson (1,232) recorded spots in the top five.

In other USBC Collegiate action over the weekend:

- At the Hawk Classic Invitational in Millsboro, Delaware, the Sam Houston State women rallied from an 0-2 deficit against Sacred Heart to claim the title.

- At the Hornet Classic in Montgomery, Alabama, the top-seeded Alabama-Birmingham women bested Lincoln Memorial in the championship match, 4-2.

- At the Oak Tree Open in Diamond Bar, California, the Grand Canyon men held off the competition for the win.

- At the Linbrook Open in Anaheim, California, the Arizona State men rolled to victory.

- At the Falcon Classic in Rossford, Ohio, the Concordia men and Wright State women paced the field.

- At the Bronco Open in Hastings, Nebraska, the Hastings women and Nebraska men worked their way through the bracket to capture wins.

- At the Spring Hill Fall Tournament in Mobile, Alabama, Webber International won the men's and women's titles.
