The Midland men and Lindenwood women captured titles last weekend at the Roto Grip Rebel Classic, a Tier 1 event in the USBC Collegiate season.

The Midland men coasted to the top spot at the Orleans Bowling Center in Las Vegas, finishing the event with a total of 12,653, including bonus pins. Lindenwood placed second with 12,220, and Fresno State took third with 11,825.

Competition on the women's side went down to the wire, as Lindenwood held off a late charge from Newman during the Baker portion of the event to take home the title with a winning score of 11,246, including bonus pins. Newman finished second with 11,232 and Midland took third with 10,958.

Midland teammates Perry Crowell and Neil Cooley rolled the highest individual scores on the men's side with six-game sets of 1,459 (243.17 average) and 1,400, respectively. Arizona State's Russ Oviatt and San Jose State's Ryunn Young tied for third with 1,381, and Fresno State's Joshua Taylor rounded out the top five with 1,360.

Chelsea Herrera of Newman finished her tournament with a 278 game on her way to the top individual spot on the women's side with a six-game total of 1,349 (224.83 average). Lindenwood teammates Alyssa Pierson (1,291) and Emily Huddleston (1,262) finished second and third, while Midland's Sabrena Divis (1,249) and Fresno State's Talia St. Angelo (1,248) also placed in the top five.

In other USBC Collegiate action over the weekend:

-At the Sin City Open in Las Vegas, the Midland women and Fresno State men captured the top spots.

-At the Blue and Orange in Wappingers Falls, N.Y., the Schenectady men cruised to an easy victory, while the Erie CC women held off Briarcliffe to take home the title.

-At the Phoenix Open in Green Bay, Wis., the Green Bay women made their way past Milwaukee for the title, while the Milwaukee men's team outdistanced the field by more than 500 pins for the win.

-At the Viterbo V-Hawk Invitational in La Crosse, Wis., the Ashford men's and women's squads took care of business to sweep the event, including the women's team edging Grand View by six pins for the top spot.

-At the Blue and Gold Classic in South Bend, Ind., Saginaw Valley State finished strong in its final four games to distance itself from Indiana.

-At the Bulldog Classic in Richmond, Ky., Pikeville swept the competition, taking home the men's and women's titles.

-At the Westchester Invitational in Carmel, N.Y., the Albany men and Briarcliffe women cruised to the top of the standings.
