The Spring Hill men and Webber International women collected wins at the Seminole Classic last weekend in Tallahassee, Florida.
The Seminole Classic, held at Capital Lanes, featured six traditional games and 16 Baker games of qualifying to determine the top four men's and women's teams that advanced to the bracket. Bracket matches were contested using a best-of-three Baker format.
The Spring Hill men qualified second for the bracket and swept No. 4 Central Florida in the title match, 2-0. Spring Hill defeated No. 3 South Florida in the semifinals, 2-1, while Central Florida knocked off top seed Webber International, 2-1, to advance.
Spring Hill's Charles Noble paced the six-game block with a 1,493 total, a 248.83 average. Webber's Ramon Hilferink (1,420), Ryan Tamburrino (1,403) and Adam Zimmerman (1,395) were next in the standings, and Spring Hill's Jackson Harris (1,361) rounded out the top five.
The Webber women, the defending Intercollegiate Team Championships winner, coasted to the top seed in the bracket but had to win the final two games in each of their matches to claim the title, including a 2-1 victory over No. 2 Savannah College of Art and Design in the championship round. Webber held off No. 4 Florida State in the semifinal, 2-1, while SCAD swept No. 3 Emmanuel, 2-0.
Emmanuel's Destiny Harper finished her block with games of 278 and 277 to surpass Webber's Tania Yusaf for the top spot in the women's standings with a 1,400 total, a 233.33 average. Yusaf finished second with 1,390, and Spring Hill's Miranda Singer was third with 1,298. Florida State's Erica Orensky (1,253) and Rachel DeVillier (1,244) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
