Women's competition


Wichita State shot 5,810 during team and 2,899 during Baker en route to a grand total of 8,709 and first place atop the 16-team field. Webber International was second with 8,609. Robert Morris University of Illinois (8,555), Lindenwood (8,478) and St. Ambrose (8,129) also cracked the top five.

Jessica Baker of Wichita State won the individual battle by one pin, 1,237-1,236, over Samantha Baker of Robert Morris-Gold. Baker and Kelly were the only two competitors to average 200 or better during the six-game block, finishing at 206.17 and 206.00, respectively.

Kelly Granzow of St. Ambrose finished third with 1,195. Jillian McBride of Lindenwood was fourth with 1,185. Desiree Lee of Newman and Rachel Schalow of Viterbow tied for fifth with 1,172.

Lindenwood-B grabbed a 91-pin lead, 6,464-6,373, over Wichita State during team play, and that gave the Lions the advantage they needed to eventually emerge with a grand total of 9,571 and the tournament title. Wichita State finished second with 9,674. Newman-A (9,432), Robert Morris University of Illinois-Gold (9,401) and Saginaw Valley State (9,208) rounded out the top five.

Kimani Smith of Lindenwood-B won the individual crown with a six-game total of 1,363, which included games of 255 and 256. Derek Hartnell of Newman-A was second with 1,343. Steve Miller of Lindenwood-A was fourth with 1,326, leaving Kyle VanderLoop of Wisconsin-Whitewater (1,321) and Mikey Hill of Robert Morris University of Illinois-Gold (1,310) to settle for fourth and fifth, respectively.

Fairleigh Dickinson put up 5,644 on Day 1 and 3,792 on Day 2 for a total of 9,436 and first place atop the 20-team field. New Jersey City finished second at 9,316. Sacred Heart (9,166), Adelphi (9,136) and Central Missouri (9,017) also finished in the top five.

Erica Perez of Fairleigh Dickinson won the individual crown with a six-game total of 1,243, which was good for a 207.17 average. She also was named the event's most-valuable player. Katelyn Miles of Wisconsin-Whitewater was second with 1,240. Amanda Falk of Central Missouri was third at 1,203. Savannah Zientara of Sacred Heart (1,189) and Catherine Rawsthorne of Adelphi (1,178) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Penn State shot 5,683 during team and 2,718 during Baker, both field bests, en route to 8,401 and first place in this five-team event. Mowhawk Valley was second with 7,805. Penn State-Berks finished third at 7,638, leaving Virginia Tech (6,892) and Penn State-Altoona (6,732) to round out the field in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Liz Seibel of Penn State, a 2009 Intercollegiate Singles Championships national finalist, won the individual competition with a six-game total of 1,261, which was good for 210.17 average. Ashley Sabol, also of Penn State, was second with 1,234 (205.67). Catlin Edwards of Penn State-Berks was third with 1,229 (204.83). Danielle Knittle of Penn State was fourth (1,199 - 199.83), and Toni Watt of Penn State-Altoona was fifth (1,133 - 188.83).

Men's competition

Rochester Institute of Technology-A seized control during team play and only got stronger during Baker. The result was a grand total of 9,908, which put R.I.T. just over 800 pins ahead of the second-place total of 9,102 put up by Penn State. William Paterson-Black (9,051), Penn State-Berks (8,902) and Virginia Tech (8,890) grabbed the remaining spots in the top five.

Rochester bowlers grabbed the top three places in the individual race, which was won by Mark Scuderi, who topped the competition by more than 100 pins by shooting a six-game total of 1,477 on games of 252, 248, 218, 267, 237 and 255. Tyler Herrman and Kyle Keegan, also of R.I.T., shot 1,370 and 1,359, respectively. Jonathan Deuire of William Paterson-Black also shot 1,359. Todd Sigeti of R.I.T. was fifth with 1,344.
