The Wichita State men and women cruised to victory at the National Collegiate Team Match Games, a Tier 1 event in the United States Bowling Congress Collegiate season, in Fairview Heights, Illinois, during the holiday weekend.
The Wichita State men made their move at St. Clair Bowl during Saturday's six-game block, putting together a 1,262 effort in the fourth game to separate themselves from the field. The Shockers continued strong during Baker competition Sunday to finish with a 12,406 total, including bonus pins, to secure the win by nearly 450 pins.
Tournament host McKendree finished second with 11,962, while Grand View took third with 11,263.
Wichita State's AJ Chapman averaged more than 237 to lead the men's field, finishing his six games with a 1,426 total. Lindenwood's Michael Coffey placed second with 1,381, which included the tournament's only 300 game. Brandon Biondo of Wichita State rounded out the top three with 1,339.
The Wichita State women held just a 13-pin lead over Grand View going into Sunday, but made a big move during Baker competition to pace the field by more than 500 pins with a final tally of 11,546, including bonus pins. McKendree took second with 11,045, and Lindenwood finished third with 10,933.
Grand View's Brittany Smith earned the top individual honors with a 1,405 total (234.17 average). Wichita State's Daria Kovalova (1,353) and Urbana's Maude Demers (1,283) finished second and third, respectively.
The National Collegiate Team Match Games was the only USBC Collegiate event to take place this past weekend.
