PWBA heads to Rochester for PWBA Summer Series
May 25, 2026
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – After a week-long break, the Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tour resumes this week with the PWBA Summer Series – Rochester at ABC Gates Bowl in Rochester, New York, featuring three events over seven days between May 26-June 1.
ABC Gates Bowl held PWBA Tour Championship Week to close the 2025 season, so it’s only fitting that the center gets another shot at hosting three consecutive events, each a different format, beginning with the PWBA Rochester Open May 27-28. Practice will be May 26 on all three event patterns starting at noon Eastern before the Bowl with the Pros later at 6 p.m. Eastern.
The Rochester Open will consist of two six-game qualifying rounds May 27 at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern before the top 16 advance May 28 to a match-play bracket starting at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., where the Round of 16 and Round of 8 will be best-of-five games. Once down to the final four players, they will become one-game matches for the semifinal and finals beginning at 6:30 p.m. Eastern to crown the first champion of the week.
May 29 will be the start of the BowlTV Open, where all competitors will bowl two six-game rounds of qualifying at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern. The top 12 will advance to round-robin match play the following day starting at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Eastern, and the top five after match play will continue to the stepladder finals at 6:30 p.m. to crown the second champion in four days.
On May 31, the Lilac City Open will begin, similar to the previous two events with two rounds of qualifying at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern. The top 24 will advance to the match-play bracket starting at 9 a.m. Eastern and the top eight players will earn a first-round bye. All matches will be best-of-three games leading up to the stepladder finals. After the Round of 8, the four winners plus the highest-seeded loser earn a spot in the stepladder finals starting at 6:30 p.m. Eastern.
All rounds of competition during the Summer Series will be live streamed on BowlTV.
In last year’s Summer Series, Stephanie Zavala of Long Beach, California, won a title on her birthday while Singapore’s New Hui Fen ended the week with back-to-back titles on her way to PWBA Player of the Year honors. New is the current frontrunner for the award this year after winning the PWBA Northern Colorado Open on May 9, defeating Zavala to do so, while adding two other top-three finishes through three events.
