Qualifying Results after Round 2
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The inaugural Professional Women’s Bowling Association Barbara Chrisman Classic presented by Storm started Friday at HP Lanes in Columbus, Ohio, and after two qualifying rounds, Malaysia’s Sin Li Jane led the 108-player field with a 12-game total of 2,753.
Sin ended the first round of qualifying with a six-game total of 1,381 and added 1,372 in the second round, including a 277 in the 12th game to solidify her position atop the standings.
“I wasn’t really worried about the scores,” Sin said. “I just wanted to repeat my shots instead.”
The strategy paid off as she finished 41 pins ahead of second-place Madison Hanrahan of Wichita, Kansas, who posted 2,712. Morgan Kramer of Webb, Alabama, was third with 2,701.
Sin, who won the season-opening PWBA Bowlers Journal Rockford Open and has made every cut this season, said her focus remains on the process rather than the results.
“I hope that I will keep this momentum going until the end of the season,” Sin said. “I don’t really want to think about the outcome right now. I just want to enjoy my moments here, and I’ll take it one step at a time.”
Dasha Kovalova of Ukraine was fourth with 2,688, while Crystal Elliott of Palm Bay, Florida, rounded out the top five with 2,685.
Brittany Smith of Adel, Iowa, was sixth with 2,679, followed by Jordan Snodgrass of Adrian, Michigan (2,672), Seo Yeon Ryu of South Korea (2,662), Breanna Clemmer of Clover, South Carolina (2,644), and Maranda Pattison of Redwood Valley, California (2,644), to round out the top 10.
The 36th and final spot for Saturday’s third qualifying round went to Lauren Russo of Wentzville, Missouri, with 2,487.
Sin said one lesson she is carrying throughout the rest of the season came from missing the finals at the previous PWBA stop in Rochester, New York, during the PWBA Lilac City Open. There, she qualified fifth and earned a first-round bye in the match-play bracket, but lost her one and only match.
“I just need to be more patient on the lanes,” Sin said. “Sometimes the lanes transition, but you just have to make your spares and figure it out while you’re still in the game.”
Sin and the other 35 competitors return Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Eastern for another six-game qualifying block, where the field will be cut to the top 12 to bowl a fourth qualifying block at 2 p.m. Eastern. After the last block, the top five will head to the stepladder finals beginning at 6:30 p.m. Eastern to determine who wins the PWBA Barbara Chrisman Classic presented by Storm and the $20,000 top prize.
All rounds will be streamed live on BowlTV. For more information on the PWBA Barbara Chrisman Classic presented by Storm, click HERE.
