2025 Team USA Trials and U.S. Amateur to be held at National Bowling Stadium
June 20, 2024
ARLINGTON, Texas – The 2025 United States Bowling Congress Team USA Trials and United States National Amateur Bowling Championships will be contested at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nevada, from Jan. 2-7, 2025, marking the first time the event has been held outside the Greater Las Vegas area since 2007 when it also was held at the NBS.
THE ROW will serve as the official hotel partners for the 2025 Team USA Trials and U.S. Amateur, and they are likely to see plenty of patronage as the tournament’s move to the National Bowling Stadium will allow for greater participation with capacity being expanded from 175 to 190 bowlers in both the men’s and women’s divisions for the 2025 event.
The Team USA Trials and U.S. Amateur is open to all USBC members age 16 and older interested in competing for Junior Team USA and Team USA.
The National Bowling Stadium currently is playing host to the USBC Women’s Championships after having hosted the USBC Open Championships in 2023.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Team USA Trials and U.S. National Amateur Bowling Championships back to Reno Tahoe,” said Reno Tahoe President and CEO Mike Larragueta. “The National Bowling Stadium exists to host premier competition in the sport of bowling, and I couldn’t be more excited to watch some of the best bowlers in America compete here in Northern Nevada.”
Anyone who hasn’t been to the Taj Mahal of Tenpins in a while will be in for an eye-opening experience as the facility has undergone extensive renovations since it last hosted the Team USA Trials and U.S. Amateur more than 15 years ago.
The first floor is now home to a satellite facility for the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame and the Kingpin Club, and the fourth floor looks markedly different as well.
That’s because the stadium seating and concession area were removed to create an open floor plan across the concourse from nearly Lane 1 to 78. The settee area also was expanded to give competitors more space for equipment and to allow for easier movement from pair to pair across the venue.
Spectators also will be in for a treat as they will be able to follow their favorite competitor’s progress on the stadium’s large scoreboards, which will have names and scores displayed by new projectors across the venue.
Gary Brown, USBC Senior Director of Short-Duration Tournaments and Collegiate Bowling, is happy to see the tournament return to the National Bowling Stadium, and he is confident it will provide a terrific experience for competitors and spectators alike.
“The National Bowling Stadium is one of the most iconic venues in the sport, and it has served as the backdrop for some of the most incredible performances and memorable moments in bowling history,” Brown said. “I think it’s wonderful that aspiring Team USA and Junior Team USA bowlers will once again have the opportunity to make their dreams of representing their country come true in a building with so much history. I’m confident that being back at the stadium will only serve to make the 2025 tournament that much more special for the bowlers and their families.”
