Mark Roth is widely regarded as the father of the modern power game. He revolutionized the sport with his high-rev style and dominated the PBA Tour in the late 1970s. In 1978, Roth broke Billy Hardwick's record for most titles in a single season when he won eight of his 34 titles that year alone, a record that still stands today. Two years later, on January 5, 1980, Mark Roth set another record when he became the first bowler to ever convert the 7-10 on national television at the 1980 ARC Alameda Open. Roth won PBA Player of the Year honors four times (1977, 1978, 1979, 1984) and was a six-time PBA High Average Award winner. Roth's many memorable TV matches against Tour rival and fellow Hall of Famer Marshall Holman will forever remain the stuff of legend, and his impact on the sport of bowling will never be forgotten.
